Q1. What is Malaysia : My Second Home Program?

Malaysia My Second Home Program is promoted by the Government of Malaysia to allow people from all over the world who fulfill certain criteria, to stay in Malaysia as long as possible on a social visit pass with a multiple entry visa. The Social Visit Pass is initially for a period of ten (10) years (depending on the validity of the applicants’ passport) and is renewable

Q2. Who are eligible to apply?
It is open to all citizens of countries recognized by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, gender or age who fulfill the financial requirements.

Financial Requirements as at 15 May 2006

Applicant below 50 years old

Open a fixed deposit account of RM300,000.00.

After a period of one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM240,000.00 for approved expenses relating to house purchase, education for children in Malaysia and medical purposes.

Applicant 50 years old and above

Can either choose to: -

Open a fixed deposit account of RM150,000.00 ; After a period of one year, participant who fulfils the fixed deposit criteria can withdraw up to RM90,000.00 for approved expenses relating to house purchase, education for children in Malaysia and medical purposes.

OR

Show proof of monthly off-shore income of RM10,000.00 such as pension scheme.

Other Requirements

Applicants are allowed to bring along their spouse and children (below 18 years old who is not married).

Participant who open fixed deposit must maintain a minimum balance of RM60,000.00 from the second year onwards and throughout stay in Malaysia under this programme.

All applicants and their dependents (spouse and children) are required to submit a medical report from any private hospital in Malaysia.

Approved participants and dependents (spouse and children) must possess a valid medical insurance policy from any insurance company in Malaysia.

Participants under Malaysia My Second Home Program are not allowed to work nor do business while staying in Malaysia. In addition, they should not participate in activities that can be considered as sensitive to the local people and a threat to the security of the country
Q3. How do i apply?

Application can be made direct to :-

  2. Application can also made through company licensed by Ministry of Tourism

    Document required for the application including: -

    a) Letter of application
    b) Two (2) copies of Form IM.12 (Social Visit Pass Form)
    c) Two (2) passport-sized photographs
    d) A certified copy of Passport / travel document (all pages)
    e) A certified copy of a Marriage Certificate (if accompanied by spouse)
    f) A certified copy of birth certificate (if accompanied by Children)

Q1. Can I withdraw my fixed deposit after joined this program?

The number of years that the fixed deposit is placed in a Malaysia bank will determine the number of years for the Social Visit Pass issued to all participants under this program. Therefore, participants are not allowed to withdraw the fixed deposit for the whole duration of that period, unless for emergency cases and with prior approval from the Immigration Department. Participants may withdraw the fixed deposit any time should they decide to end their stay in Malaysia under this program.
Q2. Which financial institution should i made the fixed deposit?
Fixed deposit required can be made in any financial institution in Malaysia, or foreign banks which have local branches in Malaysia.
Q3. Can the fixed deposit required by the program be made in foreign currency?

EMPLOYMENT F.A.Q
 
Q1. Can I work under this program?

No. Approved candidates are not allow to work under the program's regulations. However, candidates with special skill can apply for a working visa from the Imigration Department.
  Q2. Can I set up my own business in Malaysia after participated in this program?
No. Participants under this program are NOT allowed to have their own businesses. However, they are allowed to invest in local companies as an inactive partner.
